Individual lessons
Lesson cancellation
Individual lessons can be cancelled or rescheduled on the calendar no later than 24 hours before the planned beginning. Should a student inform us of his/her inability to attend within 24 hour from the lesson’s start, the lesson will be lost. This does not apply to force-majeure situations (such as the student’s illness). In this case, please inform our staff at [admin email] in order for your lesson to be returned to your calendar.
Should the teacher be unable to attend the lesson due to force-majeure reasons, we will try to find a prompt replacement. In case this won’t be possible, a member of our team will inform the student, who will be able to reschedule the lesson in the calendar.
Package duration
Our packages of individual lessons have a fixed duration (calculated on a minimal usage of 2 academic hours per week), meaning that lessons need to be used within the following time frames:
-
1 lesson: 1 week
-
10 lessons: 5 weeks
-
25 lessons: 13 weeks
When additional lessons are purchased, the time frame will be extended accordingly.
In case a student doesn’t use all of his/her lessons within the given time frame, the lessons will be lost.
This rule does not apply to force-majeure situations in which either the student or the teacher were forcibly unable to attend the lessons.
Teacher change
Should you feel any dissatisfaction with your course, please promptly inform our team at info@italmente.it, we will be happy to discuss any concern you might have and, if necessary, proceed to choose another teacher for you.
However, please note that learning a language might be hard at times. It is normal to face difficulties, and our teachers are professionals who are trained to help students overcome their barriers. That said, each tutor has a different personality, and we will be happy to find a replacement better suiting your needs.
Course programme and approach
Although all of our courses follow our standard programme, individual lessons can be tailored to your needs, so please feel free to inform your teacher or our team if you have specific requests, we will do our best to comply.
All of our courses follow the communicative approach, meaning that the main focus is on pragmatic communication through an active use of the language on behalf of the student, while the use of English and of a purely grammar approach is limited. This approach is based on the Common European Framework of Languages and ensures the most effective results. Should you prefer a different approach we will do our best to comply with your request, although please note that this might affect your progress.
Textbook
After your first lesson, you will be sent an email with the code to download the electronic Italian textbook of your level, containing all the necessary instructions. Should you encounter any issues with the textbook, please promptly inform us at info@italmente.it.
Booking and accessing your lessons
After booking your lessons, you will be able to schedule them in your Dashboard, in the section called “Individual Lessons Calendar”. After scheduling your first lesson, you will be assigned a teacher and the Calendar will show you the link to access your lessons.
Please note that once a teacher is assigned, you will be able to book lessons only in the teacher’s available slots. Should you need a different timetable please inform us, and we will try to find a teacher who can meet your scheduling needs.
We kindly ask you to discuss the schedule with the teacher during your first lesson, in order to avoid issues when booking your next lessons.
Group course
Placement test
After booking your course, you will be contacted by a member of our staff on the same/next business day to organize an oral placement test to determine your level and choose the right group for you. Please note that attending this test is compulsory in order to be given the link to access the group lessons.
Accessing your lessons and materials
After attending the placement test, you will be given access to your study group in your Dashboard, in the section “My Group”. There, you will find the Zoom link to access your lessons, the course’s schedule and eventual materials uploaded by the teacher.
Course duration
Students must attend their group lessons for the period they have booked. This period usually starts the following week after a course is booked, and is extended whenever a further booking is made.
Your booked course dates can be found in your Dashboard, in the Course section.
Should you wish to start your course on a different date, please inform our team at info@italmente.it, and we will assist you with your booking.
Lesson cancellation
Group lessons follow a fixed timetable and cannot be canceled or rescheduled by the students. Students are not allowed to attend missed lessons at a later date.
Should a student be unable to attend due to force-majeure situations (such as the student’s illness), he/she will be allowed to attend at a later date, provided he/she informs our team at info@italmente.it within a week from the missed lesson.
Should the teacher be unable to attend the lesson due to force-majeure reasons, we will try to find a prompt replacement. In case this won’t be possible, our team will inform the group, and the lesson will be rescheduled.
Group availability
In case a group of the right level isn’t available, students will receive an individual course with the 50% of the booked group hours.
Group change
After your placement test, you will be assigned to a group of students of your same level. This does not mean, however, that every student in the group will possess the same skills and knowledge: it is normal for study groups to be dishomogeneous and this represents a positive input for the students, who are exposed to different styles and can learn from their peers as well as from their teacher.
Nevertheless, should you feel that the group is either too weak or too advanced for you, please inform us at info@italmente.it, we will be happy to discuss your concerns and, if possible, to organize a group change.
